An employee of a South Jersey business security company died after a co-worker opened fire Monday morning before turning the gun on himself.
The gunfire rang out around 7 a. m. at Shields Business Solutions along Twoshome Drive — not far from the police department in Moorestown, New Jersey, said Burlington County dispatchers.
“Officers arrived on location and found that a shooting had occurred, beginning in the building and winding up outside the building,” said Moorestown Police Lt. Lee Lieber.
Moorestown Police confirmed a male co-worker died. Medics airlifted another employee to Cooper University Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, said police.
Only one worker had a gun at the time of the shooting and the incident appeared to be a suicide and attempted murder, said investigators.
Shields is a company that services ATMs, protects vaults and offers armored car services, according to the company’s website.
Police from surrounding communities including Mount Laurel also responded to the scene.
